Located in Burgundy, the circuit of Dijon-Prenois was inaugurated in 1972. With initial length of 3801 meters, the circuit offers a very hilly environment with technical differences and a large majority of sections very fast as the “Straight line of the Fouine “ of 1100 meters or ”Le Gauche de la Bretelle“.
Jean-Pierre JABOUILLE won an exceptionnal race on July 1st, 1979. This was the first win of « Grand Blond » but also the first of a Renault Elf F1 with radial Michelin tires and also the first win of a Formula 1 supercharged engine bit this victory was largely overshadowed by the anthological battle that took place in the last laps between Gilles Villeneneuve on Ferrari and René Arnoux on the second step. Another french driver, Alain Prost, will win his first Grand Prix here in 1981.
