Among the two Sunday races on the programme on the last day of the fourth round of the Ultimate Cup Series, the Endurance GT race. After two consecutive victories at Dijon-Prenois and Slovakia Ring, Jean-Bernard Bouvet, Jean-Paul Pagny and Thierry Perrier arrived with the championship controls.
The Renault RS01 dominated the qualifications on Saturday. The Renault n°46/AB Sport Auto trio, composed of Tiziano Carugati, Nicolas Maunoir and Greg Segers, took pole position with an average of 1:49.583. Greg Segers was the fastest driver of the weekend with a time of 1:46.865.
On the grid on Sunday morning, the poleman Tiziano Caraguti started alongside Lucien Crapiz and the Renault RS01 n°23/DEMJ. He performed a very well, which allowed him to take the lead at the beginning of the first corner. Behind him, Thierry Perrier, at the wheel of the n°1/Visiom Ferrari 488 GT3 also started very well and took control of the race after a good battle with Crapiz. As the laps went by, Renault n°46 caught up with the leaders and overtook them to take the lead in the 24th lap of the race. During the game of pit stops and balance penalties during these, the Ferrari crew took the lead in the second half of the race and never left them.
Jean-Bernard Bouvet, Thierry Perrier and Jean-Paul Pagny have taken the lead for the third consecutive victory and are increasing their lead in the GT championship. The Ferrari pilots finished about 20 seconds ahead of the crew of Renault n°46 despite a 16-second stop & go imposed on the winners for an infraction made during a pit stop. The podium is completed by the drivers of Renault n°23.
The Vortex V8 n°701/Vortex, led by Nicolas Nobs, Frank Lefevre and Philippe Bonnel, won the UGT class despite an off-track run in the first corner, in the third hour of the race. Victory also for Milane Petelet, Max Bartolomi and David Cristini in UGTX with their Porsche Cayman GT4 n°11/KRAFFT Racing.
Heading for Spain and the Valencia circuit for the next part of the Ultimate Cup Series on September 27, 28 and 29 where the Endurance GT plateau will compete for a new four-hour race.
