Vincent Capillaire, Matthias Kaiser and Lukas Dunner took pole position in the Proto Challenge this afternoon at the Mugello circuit. It is on the Italian track that the Ultimate Cup Series resumes its rightful place with a blazing sunshine.
The crew of the Ligier JS P3 #26/Wimmer Werk Motorsport, which leads the championship (Kaiser and Capillary only), therefore has all the cards in hand to increase their lead a bit more. The three men set the fastest average time of 1:45.932, pushing the Norma M30 #16/Red River Sport by Nielsen to nearly 3 tenths. The Ligier JS P3 #14/Inter Europol Competition will start from third place on the grid, just ahead of Norma #21/DB Autosport.
In the Ultimate class, the Ligier JS P3 #9/Graff Racing, led by Sanjuan and Trouillet, was the fastest, clocking the fifth fastest time in 1:46.632.
The two Ligier JS P4 logically close the gap. The 16 cars will start for 4 hours of racing tomorrow, between 13h30 and 17h30.
