Qualifying for the 4 Hour GT Endurance race at Estoril gave rise to a good fight, with three cars competing for pole position, namely the Renault RS01 #23 by DEMJ, the Ferrari 488 GT3 #1 Visiom and FOENIX Solution F # 87.
This morning, Jonathan Cochet made his return to the track and demonstrated, if need be, that he still has what it takes and, with the FOENIX # 87, indeed showed us by setting a lap time of 1.34. 250 which would remain the best time today.
Three qualifying sessions, contested by each driver of the teams, determined the starting grid with the average lap time of these three sessions.
Session 1 : RS01 # 23 was fastest, Lucien Crapiz turning with a lap time of 1.37.289 and ahead of Jean-Paul Pagny in Visiom’s Ferrari (1.38.601) and Stéphane Pourquié in FOENIX # 87 (1.39.042).
Session 2: The Ferrari took its revenge and Thierry Perrier was the fastest in this session lapping at 1.36.915 in front of Lucien Crapiz and his RS01 (1..240) -the Renault by DEMJ had only two drivers, the RS01 by AB Sport Auto # 46 of Thierry Proust (1.38.727) preceding the FOENIX # 87 of Gérard Faure (1.39.984).
Session 3 : a change up in the order : Jonathan Cochet had the best time with FOENIX # 87, although he was slower than his earlier run (1.34.801). Jean-Bernard Bouvet in the Ferrari by Visiom had a good run, lapping at 1.34.850, as did Massimiliano Mugelli in the RS01 by DEMJ (1.34.909).
In the end, with an average of 1.36.479 the Renault DEMJ # 23 got pole position, ahead of the Visiom’s Ferrari (1.36.788) and the FOENIX # 87 (1.37.912).
