Having done the best lap times in both free practice sessions on Friday, the Ligier JS P3 # 26 of Wimmer Werk Motorsport secured pole position today in Estoril, and just like yesterday, it was the Norma M30 Red River Sport by Nielsen # 16 who was his closest rival
The average time of the three qualifying sessions determined the starting grid.
Session 1 : Vincent Capillaire (Ligier # 26) was the fastest with 1.33.692 and he was well ahead of the two Ligier JS P3’s by Speed Factory Racing, # 4 Alexei Chuklin (1.34.396) and # 5 Alvaro Fontes ( 1.35.124).
Session 2 : Norma responded with the two best times, fastest for Bonamy Grimes (Norma # 16) with a time of 1.32.882, ahead of Hugo Carini (Norma M30 DB Autosport # 21) who’s fastest time was 1.33.709. Wimmer Werk was again Ligier’s best representative with Matthias Kaiser’s third fastest time: 1.33.950.
Session 3 : Lukas Dunner and his Ligier by Wimmer Werk # 26 had been the fastest yesterday and came back with the best qualifying time: 1.32.160, ahead of Johnny Mowlem in Norma # 16 (1.32.528). Julien Wagg (Ligier JS P3 Team Virage # 94) signed a good fourth time in 1.33.189).
On average, pole position went to Ligier # 26 (Lukas Dunner / Vincent Capillaire / Matthias Kaiser) with a time of 1.33.267 and will share the first row with the Norma # 16 of Johnny Mowlem / Bonamy Grimes (1.33 .614).
The second line will show the Norma M30 # 21 by DB Autosport (Antoine Robert / Lionel Robert / Hugo Carini) with a time of 1.34.155 and the Norma M30 # 72 by TFT (Arnold Robin / Maxime Robin) with a lap time of 1.34.438.
