Excellent Bourguignon weekend for the duo Amaury Bonduel and Sacha Lehmann, the two teammates of the Lamo Racing Team of Laurent Lamolinairie who shared victories and accesses on the Dijon circuit in Prenois, the young Belgian triumphed in two of the three races placing second in the last one while his friend the young French Lehmann won one and finishing second in the other two races.
Absent from the circuits in 2018, out of budget, Amaury Bonduel, a former steering wheel of the Euro Formula School of the Circuit de la Châtre in the Indre, crowned when he was just 14 years old, is back on the circuits this year by the big door, having already shone during the opening round in March in Estoril in Portugal, where he had already won two of the three races, finishing second in the last one, behind the Italian Brice Morabito of the Scuderia TS Corse!
And yesterday (Friday) and this Saturday morning, on the circuit of Dijon-Prenois, as we said, bis-repetita, he does it again and gives himself the same result… Two wins and a second place!
Performances that push him to the top of the provisional overall classification of the Ultimate Cup Series Auto.
After winning the first race early Friday afternoon (see link) in front of Sacha Lehmann and Augustin Collinot, the "little" Bonduel seemed to be back and under a hot sun, set to win again, but…
Amaury tells about the rest and its end of the race :
I started well and had quickly built up a good gap – 4 seconds – then I managed that lead. But at the very end of the race, Romain Goeffroy, who rides in my Lamo Racing team, obviously had a problem that immediately triggered a yellow flag in the whole sector 2 and as a result my lead faded because I could not overtake the laggards. I waited until the green flag was flown because it meant that I could overtake again. I did it in the last corner but Sacha who had caught me after the yellow flags and well positioned in my exhausts, took advantage of the suction to overtake me and win. Anyway, I score huge and valuable points for the Championship. »
This Saturday morning awakening, the sky was grey and cloudy and heralded the rain that was coming at the start at 8:30 am of the third race.
On a track that was naturally quite different from the previous day, Amaury took off in front… Sacha Lehmann and a fast Vincent Iogna from the Formula Motorsport team, of Jean-Claude Estre.
As the laps went by, he flew away and managed to increase his gap, which guaranteed him a further victory this season, unless it was always possible, on a very greasy and slippery track, to add another victory.
Thirty minutes later, it was done, Amaury Bonduel won his second race in Dijon, his fourth victory in two races: Two in Estoril and Two so in Prenois !
The Belgian triumphant ahead of Sacha Lehmann and Brice Morabito, the transalpine of TS Corse.
After the podium presentations, he told us :
"As yesterday I started really well and made a good gap until… 23 seconds until the safety car came on the track. Since I like the rain, I was very comfortable. So I’m too happy to win in the rain. And we signed with Sacha and Augustin, a third hat-trick for our Lamo Racing team, which is having a great weekend here in Prenois. »
Behind Bonduel, Lehmann and Collinot, the Top 5 of this third round was completed by Brice Morabito and Vincent Iogna of Formula Motorsport.
Previously on the podium of the second as in the first, there were Sacha Lehmann, Amaury Bonduel and Augustin Collinot. Top 5 with Brice Morabito and Lebreton.
